Baoshan (called Yongchang County in Eastern Han Dynasty), lied in the west of Yunnan province, is the seat of ancient Ailao. Being one of the earliest exploited area in Yunnan, Baoshan is the important posts of the famous “Southwest China Silk Ancient Road” as well as the location of throat for people to go to South Asia and South East Asia; Located on Deihong, Dali, Nujiang and Lincang inside, outside connecting with the mountains and rivers of Miandian, Baoshan is the important traveling area in west Yunnan with its 168.78 km long borderline and one of the five exquisite tourism lines of Yunnan; Four counties are subordinate to Baoshan City including Tengchong, Longlin, Shidian and Changning. It is a city with a population of 2.4 million and owns 26 ethnic minorities, 14 worldwide nationalities and 170 thousand overseas Chinese spreading 29 countries and areas, which makes Baoshan a famous overseas Chinese town in Yunnan; Baoshan also enjoys a convenient transportation with 320 national highway and China-India Highway (Steven Highway) running through the whole area. The national second-level airport has air traffic to Kunming and the highway from Kunming to Baoshan is available.
